Unhappy Octane Boost?

With gas prices here reaching 2.45 a G---for premium, witch at best they CLAIM is 93 octane, I started thinking--

why not buy regular gas, and buy 101 octane boost buy the case, pour it in, have higher octane than ever and probably save money.

Now, experts-- is that possiable? Can I do that, or is octane-premium gas- more complex than I am pondering over with my little mind???

I never trusted octane boost, plus combine the cost of a bottle or 2 of octane boost per tank, and I don't think you are saving anything. I talked to a distributor of octane boost and other things once. The guy swore it worked, but that you had to use a perfect mixture. Too little or too much octane boost added wouldn't give you the proper results.

IMO if you want to save gas money, get a programmer and have an economy tune burned for lower octane. You will lose a lot of power but you will be able to run lower grades of fuel.

Well a programmer is my next bit, but if I get one that I can store 3-5 different burns, won't an economy burn hurt the engine, carbon it up?

Not really. Think of it being on a lower scale. You basically have less timing so you can run less octane and you get less horsepower. Tuners do it all the time to run gas in CA which is 91 octane. You are driving it the same way. For me, I had them burn it so I could run 93 or 94 octane. I would just suck it up, get the normal burn and just keep your foot out of the gas.

ok,

how about MAF sensors, have you seen the ones that the sensor is suspended in the middle, mine is in a tunnel and the wire is real small.
Do you think the centered ones produce better?

I couldn't really say, but with the level of horsepower you are at, I doubt you will see any gain. I would rather put the money into some place where you would see a difference. Maybe the valve body, traction bars, etc.
