Engine Swap

I was wondering if anyone knows if a 351W will bolt to a E4OD that has a 4.9L in it now. Also if anyone knows where to find the right swap kit if it will bolt up.
Thanks
PS if this works keep your eyes open for this 4.9 with 78000 miles for sale soon.

Yes, it will bolt up. You will have to have the correct flexplate for the engine with the e4od though. But everything will bolt up. I did the same swap on my 88 F-150 and took the 4.9 out and put in a 302 out of a 91 model pickup. Now the wiring harness was the toughest part, since I was still using the fuel injection. But I will save that story for later.

Basically all you will need is the front part of the exhaust system, the engine mounts to frame, and the motor mounts, also the radiator.

Is the wiring swap difficult if I am changing from a 5.0 to a 5.8 in an 87 250? Will I need to change the computer, or the chip, or what? I am new to all of this fuel injection and computer stuff. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The wiring I am not sure of. I know the firing order is different between the two engines. Is yours an 87 model? If so, then I would recommend getting the wiring & computer from an 88 model. That way, all the wires should be the same. And on the brighter side of things, you can add a chip with the 88 computer whenever you wanted to.

Everything will bolt right up. If you are planning to go with en EFI 351, then you can use the same fuel pump and all. You also shouldn't have to change the motor mounts. On your 5.0 to 5.8 conversion.

If you need any other tips, don't hesitate to ask. I have done the 4.9 to 5.0 swap. And I believe that is the hardest on the newer models.
