Need more info - Does it turn the engine over when you try to start? Or Does it just click? Do the dash warning lights come on when you turn the key to run? Will the headlights come on bright when turned on? Try looking at the positive and negative battery terminals and trace all the grounds to make sure they are clean and tight. Does the key feel normal when you try you start, or is it free - no resistance? Just some things to try and post back - someone will be able to help if the right info is available.

when its turned over there is no noise at all, there is no power at all, no lights dash lights or anything, the engine doesn't turn over, when trying to start it the key feels normal no ressitance at all.

Hi,
If you truly have no power then things come to mind.

One posibility is you have a defective battery. Get it tested/replaced.

Second is that your atlernator is bad and hasn't been charging the new battery. Has the voltage guage been dropping lower everyday? The autoparts store should be able to test this to if you can bring it to them, or charge the battery, start the truck and drive it over :-)

Third is that your battery cables & connections need attention. A bad connection will have simular symptoms. You will need to clean the connection and replace the cables if you see any signs of rust. Be sure to hit all the ground connections as there are several (frame, body,ECM...)

Post back with how you made out.

Please help clarify - does ignition feel normal, which should have some light spring pressure to return switch/key from start to run position; or is it completely free with no spring return. If it has no resistance at all possibly ignition switch actuator is broken in column and not moving switch to run/start position. Do you have headlights or are they missing also? Keep trying and posting.
