idle rough

I have a 1997 f250 7.3L 4x4. Put in a chip last week everything ok. change my fuel filter two day a go. Left the truck idling at work for about 30min came back it had died. At a red light the idle will go up and down. Sometimes almost choke out. Drives like a champ. Maybe the fuel filter? not sure. tell me what yall think.

If it was the fuel filter - I wouldn't think it would just affect the idle - but I could be wrong. You said you got a chip - so the first thing I would probably do is pull the chip and see if it still does it. My truck idles a little different with my chip set on the higher settings - not that it would die or anything though. I'd pull the chip to rule that out first....

Why did you let it idle for 30 minutes? I'm sure this had nothing to do with it dying, but it's not the best thing to let motors idle that long.

I agree with cat-man, pull the chip and see if that helps.

I wasn't planning on being so long. Boss man was on my back.
