ID a 429

I'v finally chose my engine for my 56 pick-up. It's a 429. I really couldn't have passed this deal up, how offten do you find a 429 for free?!I think the engine is a 429 simply cause the valve cover has the 429 label on it. But i don't know what year it is or even where to look on the block to find out more about it. So far i'v just found, I think it's (DOVE-C) on the passenger side head and thats it. There still is lots of junk on the block that i have to clean off. Where should i look for some serial numbers on it? Any help would be great!
THANKS

Those heads are from 1970 429 or 460. The driver side head should have the same casting #. From what I've read they're good heads and highly sought after because they have small combustion chambers. Do a search the 385 series forum to find tons of info on your heads and motor.

Good luck with your project

Paul
