THAT'S IT!! At every stop light, the Trunk Monkey jumps out and holds up a sign: I bought this vehicle from Jeff Clark at Van Bortel Ford in Victor, NY!
Then he proceeds to beat the you-know-what out of everyone that comes close to your truck. Remind me to send you a trunkmonkey sticker. It's a must have for the Nwst Chapter
I have these license plate frames on my truck that say "Victor" on the top and "Van Bortel" on the bottom. Now these are probably great for the locals, but us out of state guys get asked who the heck Victor Van Bortel is You need special ones for us that say "Van Bortel" or "Van Bortel Ford" and "Victor NY". I proudly keep my Van Bortel Frames on my truck, I'm just tired of some guy named Victor getting the credit
I was thinking the same thing. Returned to North Carolina from Victor, NY several days ago with my new 05 F350 DRW. I will try to post an account this pm (with photos) of the great experience buying from Jeff and Van Bortel Ford.
I will leave the liscence holder with the Van Bortal name but also felt it underadvertised the dealership/location. I'm usally not so interested in advertising the dealer but would be proud to do so in this case. So Jeff, if you make up some new plate frames please include me for distribution. Anyone on the East coast and even beyond should consider buying from Jeff. It was well worth the 700 mile drive and the $140 plane ticket. I would buy again from Jeff even if it was a break even proposition. Thanks again Jeff for all your help and hard work.
Phil
I purchased my 2002 F250 SD at the ripe ol' age of one (the truck was a year old, not me!). However, since I purchased it at a Toyota dealership in Columbus, Ohio, I did NOT allow them to put any kind of dealer sticker on the truck...anywhere. I did allow them to put a cardboard insert in the front license plate bracket.
In fact, the photos in my gallery (taken the morning after I bought it) show that the insert is still in there (a little Photoshop, however, means you can't read them). They were promptly removed.
************ To Jeff Clark (or the individual in charge of this license plate bracket for the dealership)...drop me a PM. I'm interested in helping (given the time). I was involved in the Ohio Chapter logo and can show other portfolio work if need be.
Interesting side note- Dealer stickers/emblems seem quite common in the mid-West and East Coast, but are very rare out here. Even annoys the dealers (I get one in on trade, deliver it, and want his logo on the thing? Not.)
Something else to consider as well. Before this idea goes any further, it should be run by Ken as a bracket with both FTE and Van Bortel, could be construed as an endorsement of one by the other; FTE endorsing the dealership of vice-versa.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that either party would not want to endorse the other, but it is something that requires looking into first.
File under "small world"- got my truck line-x'd yesterday in Danbury/Conn, and the dealer recognized the Van Bortel license plate frame! (his sister lives in rochester)
Jeff, that's a great idea, but as you said some states require both tags. At least it would be a good conversation piece until the vehicle gets registered in its home state.
I'm sure that could be fit on a plate frame though and I'd love to show it off on my truck.
