If it were me, I'd probably buy the whole rear end, so I didn't have to mess around installing a new ring and pinion. I'm not that great of a mechanic, I've watched guys setting up the lash on a rear end and it looks a little tricky.. But that's me..

If your speedometer is connected to the tranny, you will probably need to put a different speedo gear in to make your speedometer accurate again.

As for the speedo, 91 was the last year it ran off of the tranny. In 92+ trucks, it's electrical and runs off of the ring in the rear diff. (Or so I was told) Which means if you change gears in a 92+ truck, you wont need to recalibrate the speedo. You'll only need to recalibrate it if you add larger or smaller tires.
