I wonder if after 25 years it is still considered a "green" block?

$250 might be a good price for someone who has a set of old 1971 OEM pistons that are not oversize.

where the heck would you find a crank that isn't worn? or is that an issue- guess you could remove the factory bearings. Would you have to bore it out 10 over to get pistons that would fit?

I would have to say yes to that question because it is the heating, and cooling cycles that "season" a block not it's age since casting. And would probably make a decent block if you had a good engine that cracked the block but everything else is still good just put in new rings, and bearings, and good to go.
