Talking Lift kit?

I want to put a 6" lift kit on my 95 ford f-150. It has an inline 6 and people say that the engine will not be able to handle it. I was wondering if this is true

A lift kit and engine power are not related. Probably people are talking about the tires. You will have to regear for bigger tires, but this is true for all engines, not just a 6 cyl.

Not to insult you, but are you mechanically inclined or just a hobbyist? Judging by your questions, I think you are the latter. Anyway, gears provide some mechanical advantage. Think of a bicycle. The higher numbers provide greater speed, but are harder to get going in. This would be what would happen if you put on bigger tires with your current gearing. Stock tires/gearing is like first or second gear on the bike. As far as numbers, stock is probably 3.50s. These are good with 31" tires. My personal preference is 3.73s with 33s, 4.10s with 36s, and so on. I run a little high, which means lower engine rpms. Getting them setup is where the problem comes in. Gear contact is an exact kind of thing. You need to shim bearings to get it right. I can do it, but it isn't to say that you can just buy new gears and slap them in. Your best bet is to see what a shop would charge. It will probably be around $1000 or more including parts and labor.
