coolant leak

I have a coolant spray coming from my front corner of the engine. How can I find out if it is a head gasket or the thermostat housing. It's under the alternator and vacumn pump brackets so I can't see clearly.

Go to AZone and rent/borrow a coolant system pressure tester, pump it up to 13psi and see where coolant it's coming from...

Check the top radiator-hose, where it clamps onto the thermostat housing. When it leaks, it sprays downward, and that spray then bounces off the head and flies in every direction.

Anyway, it might be as simple as that hose connection. Both of my IDI fords have leaked there at one time or other.

If it's on the left, it could also be the front oil cooler header.
