Hey Guys,
At the begining of the week, my trucks speedo started to "bounce" around a bit and not soon after my ABS fault light illuminated. Thought it might be a speedo sensor of some sort, but before I got around to looking into the problem, I fund my dome/courtesy lights will stay on even after I lock up the truck(normally they go out right away). I found the fuse for the lights and pulled it. Fix a possible battery drain problem, but noticed that the one curcit controls all the items that are failing. Anybody have this happen? If so, is it a control box or computer of some sort?
Hey Mike, what year truck? On my 94 the speedo went haywire and it through the ABS light. Fixed the speed sensor and the light went off. Not sure about the other stuff.
there is a GEM module on top of the fuse box that controls misc electrical devices. to reset it, you have to unplug it, wait approx 3 min and plug it back in. you will have to pull the fuse box down to get to it, '99 f350 psd.
as far at the speedo and the abs light goes, that could be the vss going out. it's on top of the rear end housing.
If your truck is a 99.5 or later. It sounds like you have a speed sensor going out. It is located on top of the rear differential. And it looks at a toothed wheel inside the differential. It is used for speedometer, cruise control, part of the ABS etc.. Anything that has to do with speed. I'd start there. Or go pay the piper at the stealer.
These guys are probably right on the vss. Your dome lights could be a switch stuck on the door. My wife car was doing the same thing. If there in the doors like my 99 sd spray in the hole with a good silicone lube. Seems to have cured hers for now. Also check the relay in the fuse panel for the light. iIt may be stuck on.

Hey Guys, my truck is a 96. I checked the door switch, it's good. I'll have to check the rear end sensor, anybody know how much it is to replace those? Best place to get them? I just happen to notice on my truck(96) that they are all on the same curcit. I will check behind the fuse panel too.
Replaced the speed sensor on the rear end of my '95 when the speedo was bouncing on it, and it fixed the problem. Picked the senor up at the dealer, run about $20 I beleive.
God I love this forum! Well, you guys hit it, it was the rear speed sensor. $27 from Ford adn 15 minutes of labor on my part and the truck is as good as new
My '99 is doing something similar. The ABS and AirBag lights on the dash will not go out. Just bought the truck Saturday and this morning is when it started happening. Any ideas? My speedo is jumping or anything just the lights on the dash.
