Switch replaced 18 months ago.
Thanks.
drh....I had a similar problem years ago with my 89. Check the wires on the fuel pump and EEC relays for corrosion. Mine were corroded in two and doing the intermittant thing you are describing. Pigtails can be bought at Ford for about $12.

Are both on the driver side fender wells?
Thanks again.
I had a similar problem. Mine wouldn't die out all the way. I would be going down the road and it would stall, tach and gauges would drop to zero for 1/2 second, then it would come back, doing this three or four times in a row (1/2 second on, 1/2 second off). We replaced the TFI module on the distributor but it didn't help. So I got up under the dash and pulled the computer out. Ran without the stalling. We put the computer back in and determined it wasn't doing much of anything (i.e. not advancing the timing) except causing the stalling so we left it out. I was gonna grab a computer out of the junkyard but never got around to it, the truck had other more important problems.
There are two relays on the driver side fender well. Both appear to be original equipment. I cleaned all connections.
I have yet to check the computer.
Thanks.

yes if it was EFI.
85' carb
all i can figure was that it did was the spark timing. everything else still worked when the computer was removed.
what clued us in to that was that when a diagnostic module was plugged in it would make a continuous beep. I don't know of any other way to test the computer.
actually my post didn't really matter, i didn't realize that partway thru we switched from the '82 f-150 to an '88 bronco.
