help with possible purchase

I am new to this forum, hoping you guys can give me a bit of feedback.. I am looking to purchase a used f250 and my budget is low $20k's. I am wanting it for:

- live in Norcal.
- daily driver, 100mi/day
- household hauler
- towing 4000lbs 3-4 times a year
- sturdy, long life truck (dont want to buy another for a long time)
- home improvement hauler, sometimes bay area->tahoe
- possible boat tower in future

I have my eyes on this truck at the local dealer, I am just worried that I might want to hold out for 4x4, but it seems slim given my budget and wanting diesel. Seems these are rare finds eh?

- 2002
- 57k miles
- 7.3L SD Diesel
- 2x4
- Super Cab, Long bed, tow pkg
- $23,900

Seem like a good match to you folks? Perhaps I compromise and go gas and get 4x4 (considering my budget)?

Thanks in advance!!

That sounds a little high for a 2X4! But then again I wouldn't sell my 01 7.3 CC LB AT 4X4 lariet for $40,000.00!!

bought it

I went down there and drove it, it's super clean, and I got it for $22,900 so I am pretty happy with that. I have three days to 'take it back' if I dont want it, but overall, I am happy with my decision to go diesel, and compromise on the 4x4.

Ha! my first diesel. cool.

Well good for you! (though you didn't give the forum much time to repond!). We're in NorCal too and will be selling our truck sometime in the next month or so before (or after) our new Ford comes in. Ours is a '99 SuperCab longbed, F250 (4x4! doh!) and has less than 52k miles. We bought it from a friend who was the original owner and have loved it and taken excellent care of it, as he did. The most significant upgrade we found was adding a Superchips MicroTuner that really helps the diesel have the throttle response of a gasser and much crisper shifts. We're only selling this truck 'cause we're buying a large camper and I don't want to overload it, so upgrade to a 350 it is for us....

Good luck with your "new" truck -- you're gonna' love it!
