Recently, one of my neighbors who has had desires on my 1980 F-350 4X4 400 auto for several years offered me $7,000 for my truck. Since I only paid $7,500 for it in 1981 with less than 10,000 miles including a 10,000 pound flat bed trailer that I later sold for $1,500, I was tempted until I went to the local Ford dealer and saw how much it would cost me to replace my pristine F-350 with only 85,000 miles with a new one. An equilivant truck to what I already have would run me over $30,000. My truck - without the trailer - originally sold new for $11,000 in 1980, so that's a 300% increase in 25 years.
Regular gas was just over a dollar in 1980 and now it is hovering at just over two dollars in most areas and people think the oil companies are engaged in a price gouging conspiracy. Considering steel is cheap, electronic everything gets cheaper by the hour, and labor is being replaced by mechanized robots throughout the automotive industry, the bigger conspiracy is going on daily at your local car/truck dealer.
Dont sell it, you wont be able to do your own work as easy, and plus, who's gonna steal a 80 f350, a new 2005 super duty is much more desireable. tell your neighbor you'll sell it for 25000$ haha
