seat interchangeability

I have a 83 f100 that still has the old bench seat in it. I would like to install a later model seat, possibly a 95-96 (40-20-40) or even a 97-99 split bench. Do any of you guys know if the later model seat will bolt in and are the widths the same? thanks in advance

They will fit, though you may have to punch out the inner holes if you go with the split seat

I have an 87 F150, and I scrapped the bench seat for a split seat / console out of a 99 F150. I believe that the cab of your truck has roughly the same dimensions as mine. The boltholes do not line up though. I needed to make 4 brackets out of angle iron, and drill six new holes in the floor in order to accommodate the swap. Yet it was well worth the effort, I no longer bust my back on long drives, or slowly slide towards the driver's door.

If you would like I could make a few measurements that are critical for your swap, and email you some pics of the final result. If you want drop me an email at ab4774@stny.rr.com, and I will get the ball rollin.

Talk to you later,
Adam

I have an 88 and I recently purchased a seat that I found out came out of a 92-96 model. Power lumbar, w/ the fold down armrest in it. I only gave like $50 bucks for it. And it fit the factory holes in the floor. It will work, if you stay below97 for 1/2 ton trucks. But you can go with a 97 3/4 and 1 ton seat.

thanks, Adam. I just found a split bench from a 96 that is the correct color for $125. I think I will use it instead of the '99. Just wish I could find a set of seats from a 99 or 2000 lightning....
