532 stroker

Im looking into stroker ideas for my 385 series engines and someday i want to get some more inches out of the 2 429s i have i was looking into the options i have and it seems most share the 4.3 in stroke so any way i go the rod ratio seems to come out to 1.58 which doesnt thrill me but its livable i guess. should i start out with a smaller bore stroker set up incase i need to bore it then i could just get pistons from a larger stroker with the same stroke? or should i just find one with a shorter throw crank so i have a better ratio? how would a ratio like that feel? does any one have a stroker like this or an engine with a ratio like this? im thinking 10:1 compression forged pistons, h beam rods, c9ve heads with port work and large valves and a bigger cam. looking for a hi torque engine for my bronco. thanks for the help. it will be infront of a NP-435 tranny and NP-205 trans.

I would recommend that you call Brian at ADPERFOMANCE, they have a web site with the phone number, he was the best priced that I found. If you talk to him he can set you up with a kit for your appl.

This might be very helpful reading for you even though it's aimed at Chrysler engines. There's a lot of good theory there that applies to anything: http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/rod-tech-c.htm

if it was me, and you have a block that will clean up at .030 over no matter what stroke you use I would only go the .030, and not .080 over right off the bat, plus after 60 over you should have it sonic checked. also you can run the 4.14 stroke crank with the .030 bore, and have a 501 if I remember
BTW if you think that rod ratio is bad a lot of guys actually go with a 4.500 stroke, and a 6.700 rod (although I personally would run a 6.8 in that combo), and I am currently building a 528 which is 4.300 stroke with a 6.80 rod, and a 4.420 bore.

You can run the 4.30 crank with no block mods. A block bored .030 over and a 4.30 stroker cranks gets you 521 big, fat cubic inches.
