'53 stock front axle

I am pleased to say that I am finally assembling my 'blasted/epoxied chassis. The king pin kit I got from Joblot is excellant, but I have 2 questions: The thrust bearings are partially open at the bottom, do I need to put grease in them? Also, where do the shims go, on top of the axle? Thanks.

Shims are on top. The grease fitting should force grease into it.
