Auto Trans Shifting and Speedometer Problem
My son has a 92 F-150, 5.0 V-8, auto trans. Yesterday, the speedometer and digital odometer quit working and the transmission started shifting very hard, at probably a little higher rpm than usual. I'm guessing the same problem is causing both of these symptoms? Any ideas - electrical connection, fuse, computer ??? Thanks for any help. Pops.

Hi, sounds like the speed sensor to me pull the spped sensor out of the trans (where the speedometer cable is hooked into it) and check the gear it is most likely stripped don't really know what causes this but I have seen it happen a couple of times on ford automatics. JOHN

That can`t be the cause because if it has the digital odometer it has the speed sensor and Rear ABS sensor as one unit that plugs into the rear end,and there is no cable,just a plug.
