Do you guy’s recommend the Mechanical or Electrical Boost gauge, Does it make a difference? I wanted to install an Autometer but not sure which is better for my 6.0.
Suggestions?

I installed a Bully Dog Moniter and now look at 2 EGT's, Boost, Volts, and can choose from 6 others. Easy to install and can be used with hop-up stuff if you want. (I don't) Also shows if any codes are in...Good Luck
I have the Autometer Ultralite boost gauge that reads 0-60 psi and I like it. I haven't had any problems with it and the sender is mounted on the intake elbow.
Some mechanical boost gauges will have needle flutter at the higher boost range. Seems to be somewhat engine and gauge specific, but I complained about this around 6 months ago, and found others with 2004 6.0 that had similar complaints. 2003 models were better about this. 2005 models didn't exist yet!
My guage is a banks dynafact.
you can eliminate almost all of the flutter if you put a needle shutoff valve in line with a mechanical guage and adjust it down(closed) till the guage flutter is reduced.
I like both, but your mechanical guages can be considered more acurate in the sence that the guage shows the pressure fluctuations. go with what looks good to you.

Do you have a source for such a shutoff valve? Something we could find at an ordinary parts store?? I would love to eliminate the flutter, and Banks was no help when I asked them. At least one guage manufacturer (I don't remember which) had such a needle valve built into the back of the housing. Unfortunately, it wasn't Banks!
Where do you have the gauge connected to? Is it the map sensor or on the intake elbow? If you mount on the intake elbow that proably will elimante the flutter because I have mine mounted there and have never had the needle flutter.
It is connected to the MAP sensor. I admit, I took the easy way out on this one. If I could get confirmation that the intake elbow would solve the flutter on a Banks gauge, I would do it. I suspect the flutter is due to the gauge responding to very fast transients in the boost pressure, and Autometer may dampen out such impulses. Apparently Banks doesn't

try a pneumatics supply shop or a aux fuel shutoff valve will work.
