I'am about to replace my lower boll joints on my 1998 F150 4X4. I read a lot of thread about the procedure put out by Racerguy and all you gentelmen, they are all very good . Ihave one question. Why would you have to remove the upper arm? Couldn't you just take take BJ apart{ remove castle nut and press out} and then tie the arm up with a piece of wire? What would be the
easiest?
you dont have to take the upper control arm off to replace the lower ball joint i changed mine last week and the only thing that i had to disconect the axil shaft from the spindle and beat the ball joint out with a hammer. it worked for me and it was easy. i replaced one in less than 2hrs, and i had never done it before and had no specal tools. good luck hope that this helps
I have to replace my lower ball joints this weekend. Do you still have those procedures from Racerguy on how to do it. I tried to search through the site to find them but every time i do the search it says that the load is to high and to try back later. I have to general idea on how to get it done, but i'd rather not try it without something to refer to if i get stuck.
