Engine

Lucked out when I bought a 390 engine 2 years ago for $100, looks very clean inside. Pulled the heads off and the oil pan to inspect it and it seems to have very, very little wear, almost none. The hone marks are visible, timing chain is tight. I put a new Edlbrock intake and could not get a RV cam in less then 2/3 weeks so used the stock cam. Almost ready to drop in, hopefully tomorrow we will have it in and runnig to. It is going in my 71 F350, later when I have some more time I will get the body and paint done. Any interesting projects out there?

Sometimes I order parts from a place in B.C. called Canadian Hi-performance Discount.I can't post a link but it is hi-performance.com.They offer free shipping which usually takes about a week but you can pay a little extra for priority. They sell both domestic and import parts, mostly engine related and if it isn't in their catalog they can sometimes still get it.I have an 84 Bronco II with a 2.8 that I picked up about 7 years ago with the intention of dropping in a 302 whenever the 2.8 died but it keeps chugging along. With the way gas prices are going I am starting to think seriously about throwing in a fuel-injected 2.3 and using it for my daily driver.I can only remember seeing one four-cyl Ranger 4X4 so they can't be too common.

Hi idfergusson, how is your weather? I bought a 84 Ranger in 1988 and was going to put a 302 in if the motor was shot. It was an as is deal but it too is chugging along quite well with the 2.8 engine. The problem with the 390 is that it is not a common motor any more so some parts for it have to be ordered and it takes time. I have a good supply of these motors so that helps alot as they are getting harder to find. If and this a big if you could find a turbo charged Mustang or T-bird engine that would be neat, that would be very uncommon.

The weather has been fine. The snow is melting fast and it actually rained this morning.Canadian Hi-performance Discount has lots of 390 parts in their catalog and you can access their catalog online.A turbo 2.3 would be interesting, I parted out an 84 T-bird Turbo coupe a few years back that I picked up off SGI. I took it for a spin around the block and was suprised at the power it had.
