I Was Told That It Went Out On My Truck And That Was The Cause Of It Just Cutting Out After Driving For 10 To 15 Minutes...
It senses the position of the camshaft for injection timing ... The injectors are electronic and controlled by the ecm and needs to get some type of referrence as to the position of valves , etc. It is the doodad that is also the timing indicator on the front of the engine. One disconnect clip for electrical and a 10mm bolt will let it come out. It has a o ring on it to seal the oil from leaking and there is a part number on the old one which is needed to order a new part. Cheaper if you buy it at international dealer than ford dealer. Just dont tell the dealer it is for a ford. It may tend to shut the engine down when it gets warm from operation and after cooling may come back to life and then again, it may not. You can usually tell it is not working at all when you crank the engine and the tach is not working. There are different forums about this and you will have to look at "engine wont start", what is the cps, and there is technical name for the thing, but cant recall it right now. Enjoy the scooter and drive safe. Bill ...... out
