Transmission removal

Is there a correct order in how to remove an automatic transmission, driveshaft, linkage, supports, etc? Do i put a jack under the pan and then unbolt it from the engine? Thanks

well, first you want to disconnect everything from the tranny. linkage, speedo cable, reverse sensor and anything else that might be connected. next disconnect the u-bolts on the driveshaft at the rear end. careful not to lose any needle bearings from the u-joint, cause they are a PAIN. pull the whole driveshaft out...the slip yoke can stay attached to the shaft. you may or may not have to remove the crossmember, which will necessitate that you use a jack anyway. jack it up either way, unbolt from the engine, and pull it out. it helps to have a buddy cause trannies aren't light, but i've done it all by my lonesome before. that should be all there is to it...hope that helps. if i missed anything, call me on it!
