Wicked weather

Well here in Oklahoma it's that time of year again, and right now there is tornado warnings and all sorts of fun like that, and I'm here waiting for my class at TCC. What kind of wicked weather have you guys experienced?

I can remember one time being at a friends trailer house back when I was about 6 or 7 and there were 7 tornados all around me, and I could see 3 of them, and we were at a trailer house and had to walk to the local convenience store. On the way up there the wind was blowing so hard it was like I would manage to take one step forward and the wind would blow me 3 steps back. But we finally made it to the convenience store so we could hide in the aisles and the stupid cashier locked the door and we were banging on it but he wouldn't let us inside. Then finally another person in there let us in and told us to go in the bathroom since it didn't have any windows around it. But that was crazy weather, because the sky was an evil greenish gray color and sirens were going off all over the place.. kinda freaky.

And to think folks wonder why we live in the Northwest, what with the volcanoes and earthquakes and all...

Quite talking about it, I miss home. Grew up in Ponca City and always looked forward to Storm Season, loved to go storm chasing. Everywhere else I have ever lived people thought I was crazy, storm sirens are just a sign to go outside and look up!!!!

here, we just have thunderstorms about every week, and later summer and fall we get hurricane season, wind and rain, and all that junk, fun stuff. then ice in the winter, no snow, just ice and sleet.

Today alone there were I think 4 different tornado warnings. Luckily none of them were in the county I live in. But I've experienced some crazy weather here...

Exactly! we had a few tornado warnings here today too, I'm about an hour south of OK. I went out and mowed the grass in it.

worst weather I've been in is a tornado I slept through that touched down a few blocks from my house.

Well today we had 4 tornado warnings and 2 were in my county so that was great fun. Everybody was huddled in a corner and where was I? Looking outside of course.

We had a tornado in Jan in the county I live in.
It did a good bit of damage. It lifted the roof of a 1million sq ft building that is used
to store Michilin tires and set it on fire and burned 250,000 sq ft of tires.
It took fire depts. from 3 counties and a good firewall to save the rest of the building.
That place is about 2 miles from my house.
I have been under 3 tornados that passed over me. Not a place that I wanted to be.

It happened at nite and I could see an orange glow from my house.
There were some big propane storeage tanks close by they were worried they might get too hot and blow up.

we just had a good bit of flooding. Not a tornado, though we do get them occassionally. I've never seen one, but I'd bet that we were in some before at night.

Last year, we had 13" of rain blow out some small dams near here. It even affected some of the guys on here. Those lakes that the dams helped create are still almost empty. They even left one of the canoes up as a reminder. It's 6 feet off the ground and wrapped around a large tree. They were some mean floods.

There has not been any warnings lately here in Nebraska but I know they will be coming. The last big one in Nebraska was in Hallam it was a F4 tornado. here is the article.
