Got it running again yesterday afternoon... 
The EGR cooler came apart internally (I suppose from EGT, but that poor thing is gutted) and things got a little nasty from there.
With the exception of a slightly screwed up piston and some quite watered down oil, no serious damage done...I'll post pics of the partially hollow cooler tube on here soon, along with the piston.
