05 XL speaker installation

I just got my 2005 XL. I want to install a new stereo. I was considereing either 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 Boston Acoustics in the front doors. Does anyone have a picture of a similar installation, and the location of the tweeter? If I go with the 6 1/2, is it better to cut away some metal, or make a spacer out of MDF? Also, what is the best route to run pre amp wires from the HU to the amp which I am going to put under the passenger seat? Has anyone run a new set of thicker gauge speaker wires from the amp to the speakers? Can you snake it through the grommet in the door?

Thanks for the help....

05 xl what exactly is that ?
most new ford trucks have factory 5x7\6x8 speakers
you can buy adapter plates or make plates out of 1\4" hardboard
no cutting required
It is preffered with component speakers to keep the woofer and tweeter
on roughly the same plane or same distance from listener for balance
if your not looking for flashy - mount the tweeter right next to the
woofer on your mounting plate
you will get better low-end response out of the larger speakers
there are 6x8 on the market - woofer\tweeter \crossover - all in 1 unit
if your not using sub woofers- this would be a good idea
just an example
