Improving performance on Ford e150 Van

Am looking to improve performance on a Ford'92, E150 van. Improving HP, and better cooling for transmission and 305 engine. Use van for family towing of travel trailer. What are best sites?

Thanks,
PR, '92 E150, 305

Hi, you found it!!!! just ask away and I'm sure that someone or ten will answer your questions, adding horsepower is fairly easy just remember it all depends on how much you want to spend. There are alot of people here who have added power to the 302 and as for transmission coolers try j c whitney catalog I'm sure they have a couple of different one for different loads.

Thanks. I have been looking on the K&N site for Air filters. What are experiences with these products?

Thanks for the info on jcwhitney site. I found several options for oil coolers, trans coolers, and combination coolers. I haven't traced all the lines out on the van, but it looks like I have the additional cooler that came with the van towing package. I am wanting to upgrade the cooling for towing the trailer. The van has shutdown on me before while towing uphill in 95 deg plus air conditions. Don't know if I had vapor lock or maybe this is a safety shutdown before it overheats. Thermostat never read in red zone, however it was above the normal reading when not pulling uphill
I need to trace out my lines to be sure what I have.

Pr, I have K&N filters in everything I own including my diesel there was a slight improvement in performance but I didn't see anything in the way of mileage. If your truck is fuel injected you should see instant throttle response (No hesitation) when you step on the gas. a good cat back duel exhaust system is where you should get the most difference. Headers help to. With headers duel exhaust and K&N filter you will probably gain somewhere around 20 hp if you go with GT40 heads you will gain more but then you start getting into real money. I would suggest headers true duels with high flow cats and air filter and see what you have if you need more then add more with heads or injectors also a super chip will help quite a bit reasonable price and just plugs in! and you can get that right here on this site just go to performance and look for Danny he can set you up with one for your truck. Keep in touch and let us know how you are making out with it there are a lot of members here just waiting to help. John
