Some punk kid with a late 90's Mitsu Eclipse w/ fart can muffler tried to show me up the other morning on my way to work. Only problem was that he couldn't get away from the 4.0L Danger Ranger LOL. I thought an Eclipse would run better than that....he couldn't get away from me at all...I ran him all the way up to the speed limiter and I could let out and floor it again and catch back up. I would have hated to see how bad I would have embarrased him with my Focus ST LOL. Anyone else done a little road racing with their Rangers? I don't think it is really a good idea but it cracks me up that the Ranger 4.0s are deceptively quick and often catch V8 vehicles off guard.
My Mustang GT used to get me a lot of officers auto-graphs if you know what I mean. I don't condone driving like that and I almost never do but once in a while that little rush is fun.

yeah its really cracks me up too, especially when innocent people get killed for someone elses stooopidity
Don't you love to hear from homosapiens, you play music they call police, they make lots of laws to protect you, they have gov. jobs - big bother, "normal" how boring it most be. Come on it was already said once about the dangers of racing on the street.
Everybody races at the light once in a while, it's good for our rangers. Those pesky rice burners are slow. My 3.0 with a 5spd and a few bolt on's does a good job too. I've dusted a few off the line and beyond. FYI everybody, my freind has a 2003 edge with the same 3.0 with an automatic and has the same bolt on's i do, and my ranger is a lot quicker and gets about 4-5 MPG more, my freind hates it he wishes he bought an XLT, plus the ride on the XLT is like a car, unlike the jumpy edge.
My Ranger took down a mid 90's Chevy 1500, 2wd. Not sure what engine, but he had dual exhaust and was driving like a maniac. He cut me off and did the same to a couple other cars in front of me. Anyways, he turned the same direction that I was going, and he got stopped at a red light long enough for me to pull up next to him. I was road raging at this point, so I looked over at him. It was on. I held my tach at about 2k RPM, light turned green and released the clutch just right to not spin the tires. I got a great jump, and held a good 1 truck length lead through 1st gear. When I shifted into 2nd it was over. I smoked him. The best part was that up the road a ways was a car that was going about 5mph under the limit. When I caught up to it, I matched his speed so the chevy guy couldn't go around. I ended up going about 4 miles out of my way just to make the Chevy guy even madder. Funny thing is that when the slow car realized what I was doing, he started laughing and slowed down even more. When I finally turned off, the guy in the Chevy gunned it and was gone.
I don't tend to get road rage, but this guy just ticked me off.
Funny thing is this happened before I added any mods to my Ranger except the 32" tires. I thought for sure he would win, but getting a good jump made a big difference. If we were to rematch now, it wouldn't even be close.

I should probably explain that I was on a 2 lane MO highway and nobody else was out at 5:30 a.m but me and this punk in the Eclipse....he couldnt get away from me at all LOL. I raced a buddies 97 F150 supercab s/b 4x4 4.6 and dusted him too.
Yeah I have had a few of those fart cans, rice burners, whatever you want to call them around Portland & Hillsboro try to take me...and they didnt have a chance. I dont do it often but when I do they regret it! Go 4.0l !
I love to race rice burners, we have plenty of them around here. Half the time I loose b/c I'm still adding upgrades to my truck, but it's still fun. This summer I plan to race my cousin's Eclipse at the local drag strip on one of their street race nights. I think I can take him.
I was driving home in my wife's 2000 saturn sl2 (124hp) 1.9l dohc.) when these kids tried to fly by me. I dropped a gear and nailed it. Later my neighbor kid came by and asked me if i raced a probe the other day. I said yeah i smoked one but I don't think they were trying. He said they were trying to beat me. They couldn't believe how fast the saturn was.
Yeah I have a 2005 Focus ST as well with the 151hp 154tq. 2.3 Duratec in it with a manual. That little sucker will get up and boogie for a little car. Not as much fun as my 85 GT but fun none the less.

sorry but i totally disagree with racing of any type on the road. i live in st. louis and it seems at least once a month some punk little twit races his piece of crap ricer or piece of crap ranger or whatever and he ends up killing some innocent mom and her kid. Too many immature idiots on the road as far as i am concerned
