I'm new to this type of stuff, but this is my 3rd Ford pickup. Had 1 Dodge (a Dakota), got rid of it to get a real half ton that can carry bigger things: 96 F-150, 4.9l 5 speed. Got a fair deal on it, and love this truck. 98K on it, which is just fine.
Going to put a factory tach in it, and swap to the highway gears. I have the 3.55 gears, but I'm not going to tow with it.
So, I'm looking for a rear end with the 2.73 gears, or maybe the 3.08. Either one will put me where I want to be. Going to check the local wrecking yards for them first.
I live on the east side of Puget sound, across the water from Seattle, WA. So if there are anybody that lives nearby, and wants to swap the rear ends, e-mail me. Swapping them is a 2 man job, so maybe we can help each other do this.
