I have an 86 f250 4x4 auto. on the underside of the trans crossmember is a bracket with a peice of iron mounted to it. its about 3"X2"x2". any ideasa? can it be removed? Looks kinda silly hanging there.
Ford also used a similar looking device on the rear axle of some of their cars and trucks in the early '80s. In 1979(Jeeze) I was looking at a Ford Fiesta. Car & Driver or Road & Track called it the "next Mini Cooper" (sorry wrong) But I bit it anyway. One of those gas crisis decisions.
Anyway---The salesman thought the weight dampener "thing" on the rear of the '79 mustang was "posi-traction". DA
Went and Bought the Fiesta from another dealer, but that is another story. Wanted a F250 4x4 realy bad but the gas thing and the TTB stopped me from that.
