Spray straw + intake

Ok...sooo I'm spraying carb cleaner down my intake with the engine revved slightly..next thing I know there goes that spray straw down the intake...My mom says she heard it backfire. Am I screwed, as in rebuild screwed? Would it hurt to drive it till it explodes or whatever is gonna happen? God, I cant beleive I did this. Is it possible it all just went through? Did it damage my valves?

Man, that sucks. Is it plasic? Seems like it would just burn up, get really hard then get really brittle and just blown out. Or it may have gunked up behind the intake valve and never made it into the engine.. I don't think that it will do any damage to the engine, seeing how plastic is much weaker than metal... If anything it's going to restrict flow somewhere.. Depends what engine... If it's a 2.9 I it may not have made it very far, the tube would need to go 180 degress in the upper plenum then go down into the lower intake. I think it'll be OK! You could always reinstall the lower intake manifold and get the piece out (if it's still there).

That job takes me about 4-5 hours. I imagine for some it would be a lot quicker, but I am no mechanic and all I have is a small set of craftsman tools and various ones I've bought because my set lacked them. If you're going to take the lower intake off, pay attention to the last drivers side fuel injector. If it doesn't point the passenger side and you put the fuel rail back on, the distributor is in the way of making the injector point the right direction for the injector harness. The result is the removal of the fuel rail, again. I've done it twice, it sucks. Make sure to depressurize the fuel rail as well. Be ready to spill a little gas and antifreeze.

my guess would be that its caught in your intake track somewhere and hasn't gone through a valve yet, I was told in a mechanics class one time that a paper match will break a valve if it is caught in-between the seat and valve at high RPMs, dont know if thats true or not, but that would cause me to tear at least the intake off and see if its in there anywhere and take it out if you can, good luck
