Question Broken Power Antena 99' EXPLORER

Good morning to all! I have a 1999 expl limited 5.0. My power antena will not retract and stays in the up position. I took it to the deal and was told I wout be about $300.00 to replace the mast. The tech said the mast cable was broken and would take about two 2 1/2 hours of repair time to fix it. Is there a way to fix it myself? How do you access the area to replace mast and cable.

Thank you ahead of time to all who respond!!

Yes you can do easily. Just get a mast online (about $30) and get the old one out with all the nylon with it. If the nylon has broken, just take the ant out, open it and take the old pieces out. Put back to gether, with the ign on, and the radio on, put the end in the mast hole and have someone turn the radio OFF. Should take it all. And away you go.

Should be just below the ant itself. Inside the engine compartment or the cabin. Take the nut off the mast first.

Antenna

Is it behind the plastic molding? If it is how do you take it out the plastic molding? I do not see any screws.
