pushrod length issues
Am currently building a 11.5 compression 351W to mud race in a 67 Bronco- The pushrods that I picked up at a swap meet last fall are about 3/16 longer than stock length I have discovered. I know it does not affect the ratio of the roller rockers, and the roller tips are still centered on the valve stem, but is there any reason that I should not use these pushrods and instead get the stock length application ones??? What, if any effect will this difference make????

Go to www.compcams.com and click on the online catalog. Find "Pushrod Geometry" located on pages 306 and 307. Read it, and it will tell you a lot. Good luck.

For correct valvetrain geometry, you need to have the proper preload on the lifter, and have the roller tip in the center of the valve stem, with the correct pattern. I used a sharpie pen to color the valve stem tip, then turned the motor by hand and looked at the pattern I got in the ink to see if it was right.
