Thumbs up to Ford
I have only ever owned one other pickup, which was a 96 Toyota Landcruiser tray back, so my experience with pickups isn't all that great, BUT:
This vehicle has done all that I have asked of it:
Its weekly chores consist of towing 10-12k lb cattle and grain trailers at around 90mph+ in 110F temperatures.
It has towed our 7tonne Deutz Fahr tractor out of a mud hole twice when stuck.
Getting into places where a vehicle this size really shouldn't go (quite often towing aformentioned trailers).
It has done all of this, and the only problems I have had have been injector cackle (now fixed, thanks cookie), loose steering linkages - due to the vibration of the roads I drive on, and the amount of water fording and travelling on dusty roads this vehicle does, and it appears that the front passenger side hub may be on its way out - again mainly due to the dust and water.
The vehicle is not without its flaws, the dash quality isn't all that crash hot, and dust sealing certainly isn't the greatest (with bull dust few vehicles dust sealing can handle it), and the AC could be a little better.
Being a Ford man all my life, when the SuperDuties got introduced into Australia in 2001 I knew thats what I would be getting once the Landcruiser packed it in (after 400000 miles).
I couldn't care if it dies tomorrow, I will be lining up at my stealership to get another, I was initially hesitant when I first purchased the vehicle, few vehicles can stand up to punishment like a Landcruiser.
But the vehicle has amazed me, it has proven to far more capable and comfortable than the Landcruiser, and thus far almost as reliable.
I have never driven a tougher vehicle.
One very satisfied (if prehaps slightly biased) customer.
What cab do you have. The only ones I have ever heard of leaking dust are the SC because of the clam shell doors. They are all tough but reg cab and CC hold up to off road punishment the best IMO . I still havent seen any used V10s in the paper yet . They are a pretty rare truck. Take care , Wrench
