potential power

I have a 72 F100 2WD short bed. I was just wandering what power can be achieved from either a 302 or 351W keeping peak power below 5k, and peak torque around 2500-3k?

The stocker got 133 hp @ 3800
Ford Racing sells a 250 hp @ 3800 Windsor complete less carb for 2900

I have a 77 302 I can complete and transplant. I also have a 78 351W I could build up and transplant. I dont need gobs of hp, just enough to get out of my own way. If I build, I can do it myself. I have a basic shop and the nescissary tools. I thought about stroking, but am leaning away because I want to get 200-250k out of my rebuild. Its not hard for a Ford, all three blocks have well over 300k, and none were ever rebuilt. The 77 block ran when I took it down to inspect the bottom end. I could tell it had major drag, and when I looked at the bearings, they were starting to come apart. I haven't gotten the 78 (W) engine out of the car, I am currently waiting to get a big enough tow vehicle to get it to the cherry picker. The engine is locked, but the car was having tranny problems, so maybe its just the tranny.

In either case, I will run stock heads, 4 bbl induction, 4 to 1 headers, Duraspark Ign, and Comp cam (S-kit makes matching valvetrain easy).

any information appreciated
