Hello,
I'm driving a 91 f150 4x4
I have the regular four wire flat plug. Both turn signals work and the brake light works but the tail lights are out. I tested the wires and the brown one is dead. There are also green, yellow and white wires. I talked to some friends and they say it would be easier running a new brown wire back to the plug, rather than trying to trace the bad wire. If so, where would I run the new wire from? Or is this crap and should I try and find the problem? Thanks for any tips.
Now you wouldn't have to run a new wire that far all you would have to do is attach it to the licensce plate lights and that would work. However you might want to check the fuses make sure all are good. The brown is taillight, the white is ground the yellow and green are the turn signals. Can't recall off the top of my head as to which is which.
Any more help drop me a line @ mrgwork(No Email Addresses In Posts!)
Just trace the tail light wire back from the plug to where it connects to the vehicles tail light wire , more than likely the connection has become disconnected or it corroded .
There's an adapter that I use that simply inserts inline in the connector on the truck so you don't have to cut and splice. It's a real simple and slick setup.
