Since I have been breaking in my new 6.0PSD I have not really taken it out on the freeway... also when I have, I guess the stereo has been on checking out the tunes. But just noticed that the interior noise is not as quiet as I thought it would be.
I don't really hear a leak... just the road & wind noise seems to be excessive at speeds over 55. Anyone else noticed or have any tips for decreasing exterior sounds?
I drive a '00 Chev 2500 2WD extended cab, my wife's '02 F250 CC 2WD is ALOT quieter than my Chev. We hardly notice road noise in her truck. Sorry you are experiencing this, what did you drive B4?
I have test driven 4 different 2005 4x4 Crewcab 6.0 trucks and in every one of them at 70 mph, I held a normal voice level conversation with my daughter. And, I have a bum ear so I only hear out of my left ear and she was sitting on my right side. Those trucks are all quieter than my 2002 E150 5.4L van.
Whalerron, if your E Series is without paneling or other insulation on it's interior walls it will be noisier. I have a '03 PSD and a '05 Escape and the noise is the same. It appears to be coming form the top of the door frame area and mirror on the PSD. It's not "noisy", just normal. I can easily have a quiet conversation.
Has anyone noticed if the window "vent/water" shields quiet it down?
I have the XLT Econoline and everything is covered with panels or fabric or carpet. I am not saying that the van is excessively noisy but the engine noise is noticeable through the console/firewall. What I am saying is that I was surprised how quiet the diesels were in the new crewcabs.
I had an 83 6.9L Diesel F250 and that son-of-a-gun was downright noisy in the cab. No, it was just plain loud.
