Batt Light flickers

Hi, I have a question ?

I own a 2000 F 250 PSD 7.3L today while driving the Batt light started flickering on and off. I pull over and found nothing wrong under the hood. Batt Instrument Gauge reads 14v Engine sounds and runs normal. Has Anyone seen this before. I'm wondering if this could be a simple battery repalcement or somthing more, The battery was replaced year ago at that time the Batt Light did not come on.

sounds like the alternator is starting to die to me. i would have your alternator tested. i know autozone does it. have both batteries checked also.

Yes. Definetly alternator. Been through two. both did the samething, flashing battery light. one was even under warranty from Napa.

Turned out to be the alternator, the diodes were blown but the alternator was still charging. Unfortunately none of the parts stores I went to had the diode kit so I had to get the whole unit. ouch!
