Anyone own a Dewalt cordless 18v cutoff/ grinder, (MODEL DC410) would like to hear about their performance. I know there is no real way to compare, but does a charge last enough to actually get anything done? Any examples??or approximate times???
I use one around the farm and our house. It works good and is hand for grain bin work, cattle lot fence, and other places you don't want to drag a cord. Keep your spare battery charged and you will have enough to cut through most things. You can also remove the four screws in the body and rotate the head so it is vertical. Check out Tyler Tools for the best deals on Dewalt.
I bought one of the combo sets not too long ago which included the grinder. Dunno if its the same grinder but it is 18v. Using the cut off wheel - say grinding off a 1/2" bolt - a battery lasts for about 2 bolts - between 5 and 10 minutes of continuous use. With a wire brush wheel I get about the same duration of use. Depends too on how much you lug it down working.
Its very handy - light and small - no hose or cord - and works very well while you have battery.
Keep in mind that once you use a battery it has to cool down before it will accept a charge. I'll probably pick up a couple of more batteries in the near future.
