what would cause this, I have a 74 F-350 with a 360 in it. while under loads the truck will kinda miss or "burp". it does it at both high and low rpm but mainly when under load. like if I have a load on it and I start to pull a hill, it will miss at random intervals. sometimes as much as once every second or two.
the timing is set at 10*btdc and it has a stock 2-v motorcraft 2100 carb. I have re-adjusted the points and put on a new condensor. anything else I should take a look at??
Does it have any relationship to outside temperature?
More when the weather is hot?
How long has it been doing it?
How long since you changed the fuel filter?
Does it get better if you grab a lower gear and ease up on the throttle?
Outside temp doesn't seem to affect it much. it did it back during the summer (95*) and it still did it last month (35*). Although looking back it might have been slightly worse during the summer. BTW: this is a work truck so it isn't used very regularly. Last time I used it, it was pretty bad so that prompted me to check/change the fuel filter. It didn't help anything. As for the gear question, it does seem to do a LITTLE better if I downshift and ease up on the trottle.
I will pull the plugs tomm. and check them and also do a compression check just to be safe.
