E150 cooling

I want to add cooling to my '92 E150 econoline van. It has a towing package which includes the transmission cooler (radiator) plus external transmission cooler. What is the best option to add cooling for trailer towing? I have found several options in the jcwhitney catalog. Is the combination engine and transmission oil cooler a good idea, or should I look at separate coolers?

You should have adequate cooling already ? As long as all the cooling system parts are in good shape & working you shouldnt have a problem with over heating .

I agree with Paul, your cooling system should be up to the task assuming your radiator is in good condition and your fan clutch is working properly.

If you want to go overboard with cooling system upgrades, consider a radiator from an E-350 ambulance.

E150 cooling

One other option is an engine oil cooler, same thing as the aux. trans cooler, just for the engine oil instead, they make combo coolers that mount both eng. and trans in one also. Most are controlled by a t-stat that only allows a small amount to circulate when temps are low (just enough to keep pressure), then opens as temps warrant. These "tap" into the oil filter mount. Several others use the engine coolant to circulate thru the oil filter mount and help keep the temps down also, but don't have any experience with these, so I'm not sure how effective they are.
