Well .... It looks like I get to work on this again this evening, just took the key out of the ignition and the cylinder turned .... I can start it, but can't get the key back in to turn it to lock without removing the lock. Good think I work at a secured site ... will play with it when I get home, don't want to be stuck here. So for all those that wanted to know what to do so they didn't need the key, well, do whatever I did wrong .... and if you can figure it out ... tell me so I can get mine right. I am sure it is just slightly misaligned, sure hope I don't need to pull the cam gear out again and play with that, hope it is just moving the switch around a little.

If you have a manual transmission, press the ignition key release button on the left side of the steering column and at the same time turn the ignition switch to the lock position. You should be able to insert the ignition key.
I'd say the ignition key cylinder is bad if you were able to remove the key when it wasn't in the lock position.
Yeah .... but it may still not be perfectly lined up after changing the actuator ... when I got home I turned it to ON and pushed the pin in, removed the cylinder and turned back to OFF to put the key in .... reinstalled and now I can't dupe the problem. If it keeps up I may get a new lock cylinder, but it worked find before the actuator broke.
I have too many vehicles, couldn't remember if the truck had the release button in my amazement, looked for it on the same place as the Toyota Camry and said ... well I can still start it and turn it off and I can get it to on to take the cylinder out .... all good. My VW and Honda do not have release buttons, and I think they are pointless in any vehicle. I just don't see the purpose!
