Ford Motor Company today announced it is releasing a revised 2005½ Ranger small truck. “The Ranger has been in the works for some time and We are quite proud of it” said a Ford executive Today. “The new ranger will have several new engine options including for the first time a 5.4L V8 and a new turbo diesel. We have been selling diesels in Europe for some time and feel the time is right for the U.S. Market. There has also been some need to increase engine power to compete with other small trucks on the market and a special 5.4L SVT version of the Ranger will be offered. Our current customer base has been asking for a true 4 door Ranger and I am pleased to announce that will be available for the Ranger starting in January of 2006.”
How uneasy I feel, like one of Nabokov's character's, waiting for Lolita, and staring at the fire hydrant that he parked too near, seeing how the paint from the chain had dried on route to the bottom, as if frozen in time. And thinking: It's no wonder that they don't want you to park too close to those things.
“Perhaps out most exciting new Ranger product is the 'MaxRanger'. We are making a statement that we are going after the quickly developing off road market with this completely new Ranger Platform. With full four wheel independent suspension, 31 inch tires, more wheel travel, 3 speed transfer case and a 285hp turbo diesel V6 we feel we have scooped the other manufactures in this new market. Coupled with our break through Dial Traction you will be able to adjust the amount of power to each wheel realtime. With Dial Traction we have succeeded in making a vehicle that handles well on the road and will negotiate very extreme terrain off road. A special graphics package will announced the arrival of this package in 0ctober 2005.”
