I'm getting ready to install ride rite air bags and compressor in my 05 6.0 CC. I'm planning on putting the compressor behind the rear seat. Has anyone out there done the compressor install this way any if so how did you route the wiring and tubing?
I mounted my compressor under the bed on the pass side. Then routed my lines along frame and into the cab . It would be real noisey in the cab not that you would be useing it all the time but its loud even outside.
I mounted mine on the inside fender under the hood. It controls my Rancho shocks, not the airbags, It is still noisy. Inside the cab would be REALLY LOUD
I bolted it directly under the bed in the pass side front corner. It never got dirty yet but I don't go 4x4 with it.The compressor is weather tight so if it did get wet it won't bother it.I ran the tubing to the gauges along the frame rail to the pass side and between the splash shield and the front fender up into the cab thru a hole that was allready there.Mine is made by lift-air I don't know if theres any differance. The tubing and wires where all run and zip-tied together from factory so it was pretty easy hook up.I also put a rubber liner between the compressor and the bed for vibration.Mine also has 2 gauges for left and right air bag.Seems these Superdutys from the factory don't sit level at all and this helps pulling the trailer level.
let me pass on some good advice. FORD gave you a perfect mounting location on the metal plate infront of the gas tank inside the frame rail. My compressor is mounted there and the air intake filter is above my driveshaft in the tunnel.
I have crossed many a stream and run in flooded streets in the recent california rains and pump and filter doing jusst fine.
Mine is mounted inside the engine compartment under the master cylinder. The air intake is plumbed inside under the dash. I have a pic of my gauge and air bags in my gallery, but not the compressor. i could take one though.
