Help...

I've got a 95 PSD 5 speed and I've been noticing that I've had to really mash the clutch the past couple of weeks to get it to start. Without the clutch completely on the floor it won't activate the starter. I figure that there must be a switch or sensor that activates when the clutch is depressed but don't have a clue what to look for. Any suggestions??

Did you look on the clutch pedal arm to see if there is a microswitch mounted to the front edge of it? In other cars I have seen them there, not sure on these trucks (I have an auto).

It could be as simple as that switch working loose from the arm.

Right above the throttle(under the dash) their is a clutch linkage/bushing that is common to wear out. look under you dash and check its condition. Its a fairly simple fix if that the problem.

Do a search on this site under "steve baz" and there is an in depth section on how to fix this problem with your clutch ,i had the same problem with mine and his idea fixed the problem very easily.

Well I finally got a chance to dig into the clutch issue today. Went and spent 8 bucks on a replacement bushing and promptly broke all the teeth off of it the first time I stepped on the clutch. Fortunately I took the advice from jadel and had looked at Steve Baz's page and found some backup advice on how to fix it. Thank you guys for all of your help, I'd have been out big bucks without this forum.

Now for the next question.... With the clutch linkage tightened back up the clutch doesn't engage until 3/4 of the way up. Is there any way to adjust the pedal or linkage to get the clutch engagement back down where it should be??

Thanks again to for your help guys, I really appreciate all the advice.
