Hey Guys, I did something stupid again!! I was muddin where I wasn't supposed to be and as I came out of the mud onto the pavement I went around the corner and I slid out of control and I hit a Fire Hydrant, I messed up my door beyond recognition and the extended cab part is dented in too. can anyone tell me what I should do to repair this damage, Any Help GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks
That type of fix is gonna take a lot of work. I'm no body man but I'm guessing depending on how severe it is you might be able to weld on rod and slide hammer dents out, other wise cut and repair the bad panels. Be easier to replace the door and rocker panel if necessary. No matter what, it's gonna be spendy unless you know someone with the know how and tools.
And, you will be in BIG trouble WHEN you get caught.
Not if.
Trust me on this one. Fire, water supply authorities and cops don't take kindly to this kind of event. They WILL do what it takes to hunt you down. Tire track castings, paint scrapings, witness interviews - oh yes.
You put rescue at risk as well, if there was a fire, and people were hurt or killed, you would be put as responsible. They can charge you with all sorts of crimes right now over a busted hydrant dropping water presures too low.
Take care of it now. Tell them you were scared, and reacted witout thinking, but you want to make it right, and they will most likely go very easy on you.
If they find you, you will be in deep water and hot fire together.
Please, do what's right.
For your sake, your friends' sakes and your family most of all.
ok well this post has turned into something totaly the opposite direction I was hoping it to go I need to get some parts or i need to know what to do to fix it. thanks.
all right thanks for you help you guys its just hard cause you think you can get away with it and after you run away you don't want to turn yourself in
We've all been there. You'll be a better person for doing whats right. It was YOUR fault, so be a man and step up. Easy as that. Everyone screws up, but hit and run is no joke especially when wiping out a fire hydrant, car, or other properties.
The trucker might change his mind and turn you in, he saw everything, you better beat him to it and look like the better person.
Heya F250Kid, here's more rain on the parade; you've now admitted on a public web forum to damaging the fire hydrant. And I'm sure your IP Address is logged everytime you access this site. Please do as the others mentioned above and fix the big problem first!!! We've all done stupid things. I wouldn't hold it against you. But as someone else mentioned, if a fire emergency happened and there was not enough water pressure you could be facing more trouble than a busted up truck. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
P.S.
As for the truck, that's gonna take a lot of sheet metal massaging or possible a new cab and door. Either way does not sound cheap. I would check the local auto trader or junk yards.
P.S.S.
How do you know if that truck driver didn't already take your license plate and information down and already report you to the authorities. I'd rather come clean and contact them than have them come get me.
Here is somthing else to consider. The law in most states require individuals with the knowledge of a crime being committed to report it or be brought up on charges of obstructing justice or worse being charged with accessory after the fact!
