Roy -

Is this a trick question? What springs? I thought the way mine flys open bumping down the road was an automatic junk eject feature to make me clean it out once in a while.

What year truck do you have?

Exclamation Springs

I have a 57 . At end of each side of the glove door there is suppose to be a wire spring that keeps the door closed. Had the springs forever, cant seem to make them do anything. Yea, I,m using a rubber band right now. Roy.

Mid Fifty sells replacement springs if yours are stretched out. I discovered my hinge had a slight oblong effect due to rusting where the spring hooks onto the hinge. So I had the hole made smaller by spot welding it a bit and now my door shuts and stays shut tight.

Ther should be a top hole on the side of the box, stick one end of the spring in, the attach the other end of the spring to the arm of the glovebox after it passes through the dash. It will form a > like that. It may take a pair of pliers to get them to go in. -4speed

To install the glovebox spring, it will be easier if the box is out. Looking at the right hand glovebox arm you will see a hole in it behind the dash opening. There is also a bracket attached to the dash about midways up with another hole. This bracket sticks out from the back of the dash toward the firewall. The spring is s-shaped on one end and L-shaped on the other. Stick the s-shaped end through the hole in the dash bracket from the outside. After installation the end of the spring will be visible on the left side of the dash bracket as you look through the box opening. Then stick the L-shaped end of the spring through the hole in the glovebox arm. The end of the spring will be pointing to the outside of the truck. Hope this helps.

Smile Glovebox springs

Sorry about that spring Jim, I got mine from LMC. Matter of fact most of my parts came from them. Doing a 57 custom cab. Most of it done just kinda mopping up things like glove box. Later Roy in SA.
