I will be needing to change over to adjustable rockers on my 390 and am looking for a good and inexpensive way to go (I know those 2 words are kinda an oxymoron)
I saw that Crane sells roller rockers for the FE motors for around $350.00 but what does it take to get them installed$$
Will they fit under stock covers?
Any better options?
Just thought I would throw the question out there to see what options I have.
Cheapest I found other than used was NAPA. You cannot buy the whole assembly as one part any more but you can buy everything individually. I think it was $220 for the rockers.
I would get the pushrods from DSC (around $40), they are stronger than NAPA's.
Yep, I don't think it happens to often to anyone but my pervious shafts were in great shape but guess what? The new adjustable rockers wouldn't fit. Turns out that some of the reman. companies reem out the rockers and use like a .003 oversize rocker shaft. It is pretty easy to tell if they will fit though, they will either slide on or won't even start to.
Talk to Dennis a DSC and tell him you would like to go adjustable on an engine that is going to max out a whatever you plan to max at. He can set you up. I got a set of adjusable rollers, shafts, stands and pusrods for around $360.
