DUI distributor timing
Folks,
Give impressions on my distributor timing (per DUI):
Mechanical Advance:
2 degrees at 1120 rpm
10 degrees at 1800 rpm
16 degrees at 2300 rpm
22 degrees at 3400 rpm
Vacuum advance starts at 8" with a total of 14 degrees at 12 1/2".
This is on a ford 400 w/ edelbrock performance package (.06 overbore, 8.5:1 compression?, 2172 cam, 1406 carb, ram air box, stock manifolds and dual exhaust on 87 octane gas). I've the initial timing at 15.
It's working rather well, but I might tinker if people think there's room for improvement.
(I'm at 5000 feet elevation and run 33's with 4.56 gearing (NP435))
