I've got a 74 4x4 Crew and that has no e-brake the only thing there is the pedal and the release in the cab every thing else missing. I need help findinf a diagram showing what I'm missing and where it goes. Please help as I would like to get all the parts needed and hook it back up. Also good lead as where to find the parts would be great too. Thanks
There isn't much involved in an E-brake.
There's a pedal, a ratcheting release, a foreward cable, a splitter (Where the main cable splits toward each back wheel) , and a bracket inside of the wheel drums, where the cable hooks up.
I'm sure you'll be able to figure this one out. In most trucks, the only thing that will go bad is the cable. Other than that, there's really nothing there TO go wrong.
And BTW, don't worry. My truck doesn't have an E brake either. My opinion on the matter: who needs an E-brake when you have granny gear? lol
lmc truck has e-brake cables not sure if they got the one for a crew cab though but I'm sure an extension can be fabricated as the only one that has a covering is the front cable the rest are just bare cables until you get to the cables that go to the brakes themselfs
I just did my 78 Crew Cab E brakes, any part store will have the cables and will find the nuymbers based on your application, double check your wheel base too. with mine I had to get custom made extensions made to link up the front and rear cables, I have some links on my home computer if I remember I'll post them up. Pick up a Chiltons or a Haynes manual for your truck, they have diagrams and show all the different options.
